Now the earth was without shape, and empty, and darkness was over the surface of the watery deep – when the Spirit of God began moving … Genesis 1:2
We’ve been so busy that it’s been nearly impossible to keep up with writing, but I want to share a few “before” images of our future “Garden.” As mentioned in my previous post, it was amazing our heavenly Dad guided our steps to this particular property, and even though there is so much work to do, I can’t help but be in love with it. :-) The pond you will see is not entirely ours, but then again no one lives anywhere near around it except us. There is one structure on the land that we call, for now, the “Red Shed,” and a septic tank. These are basically the only developments on the property.
So jumping right in, here is a brief tour …
It’s amazing how much inexpensive property is in upstate N.Y. It has a growing Mennonite and Amish population, and is famous for it’s many wineries and micro-breweries. If you come visit us someday, we can take you on a wine tour! :-)
So much of the Finger Lakes region is hilly.
I particularly like that we are in a more flat area!
There is a long driveway that goes into the center of the property.
Unfortunately we will have to do some plowing! :-/
The red building is finished off inside, but empty.
Our current plan is to add a greenhouse to the back of it,
and use the building as a food prep kitchen, with a bathroom in it as well.
I’m already getting attached to all the trees,
and I haven’t even met them all yet…
FREE apples anyone? Come help yourself!
But first we have a lot of work to do, such as …
And planning all the logistics of how to heat it, do solar energy,
and….
Thanks for sharing this adventure with us.
More to come!
Oh, Pamela, it’s just beautiful. How I would LOVE to pick some of those apples, but by the time I got there, they would be snow covered. If we get up that way someday, would consider it a privilege to see this awesome wonder. The wine tour would be great too. Can’t wait for updates.
Sandy Innis
Sandy, that would be great! Next Spring a top priority is a guest house that people can come and stay for a week or two – free of charge – to unwind and share time. Just a willingness to pitch in and do some gardening, or help me with the chickens, etc.. And oh yes, go on wine tours. :-)
Great pics Pam and Vinney!
Looks great!
Pam,
I have a friend Diane Boots who lives in Middlesex, near Potter. She is my piano student. Her husband and she were farmers for many years. They are one of the original families there. Diana was interested in meeting you and Winnie. We can visit you at your new wonderful place. What is the address?
Love,
Natalya
Hi Natalya! We would love to meet your friends. Unfortunately we aren’t able to host anyone for awhile… we aren’t there yet, and we are experiencing some challenges due to not being ready for the weather! :-o xo
Hi Pam,
I hope that your house is getting set up well. Thanks goodness that weather stays warm.
I think it’s a good idea to spend winter in the nearby town.
My friend Diane lives on Boots Rd. in Middlesex, near Potter. Her name is Diane Boots. Do you need any help? Let me know.
Good luck to you both! Vinny is doing a great job with the house!
Love you,
Natalya
Hi Natalya! I just saw this message a week later. :-( Anyway – always nice to hear from you! We can always use help, and next Summer we hope to have guest accommodations for those who want to have a work-vacation with us! :-)
