I didn’t know what to title today’s update, and that’s the best I can come up with. Vinny and I are on a time crunch, with our “tiny house” (that we are currently living in, at the campground), scheduled to be moved to the new land tomorrow! And it’s looking like the campground sale will close this weekend.
We aren’t ready yet, and we are so tired. Lately the simple act of bending over to pick something up causes me dread! I’ll even look around to see if there’s anything else to pick up “while down there,” in order to make the trip more worthwhile. :-)
On a positive note, the well digger struck water! At 85 feet he hit the vein, and it filled back up 40 feet at a speed of 13 gallons per minute. And even though we don’t have the water test results yet, it looks (and smells) great. Water is very important, and of all the costs into the property, I’m feeling most positive about this. We’ve been buying water, and I feel bad about the hundreds – even thousands – of plastic bottles that we’ve been responsible for. Even though a well is expensive, it’s a good trade-off for both us, and for future generations who will be drawing up free, delicious water from deep in the earth (and any of our friends who want any!).
It cost approximately $3,000 for the well digging and casing.
As to burying the water lines 4′ down and installing the pump, etc. Vinny is working hard to save us money here. Not to mention utilizing solar to draw the water up and get it to our home and to the outbuilding. He has spent many hours studying and researching these issues. It’s going to cost a fraction of what it would cost to have someone do all that.
The picture I’ve included is of him using the rented “ditch witch” (trencher) to dig water and electrical lines. This was just before three days of heavy, torrential rains came and filled the trenches. :-(. Trying to finish this job now has been like shoveling play-dough!
Tonight we opened and shared a bottle of ibuprofren.
Tomorrow we will be back at it again. :-)
.
Oh, Pam, it will all come together, you know it will. Can’t wait to see the project as it forms as it should be. Keep on trucking.
You are an encourager, Sandy. Thank you. :-)
Ibuprofen??? Sounds more like share a bottle of Champagne !!! Good work guys !!
Maybe later on that, Chris. But we need something stronger lately… :-)
May all your trenching be root and rock free. Used a trencher like that to help my b-i-l in NC – rock hard red clay. Wound up using a pressure washer to blast through the worst of it. That kind of work really brings out the “Tim the Toolman Taylor” in a man. ;)
Lol. I’ll take that blessing, Jack. We do have a lot of clay. Which when mixed with water… ughh.
Yayeee (ouch ouch) yayee…. the dream becoming the reality…. priceless 👼🏼
Thinking of you from far-away Pamela, with much love…..
You have ‘The Fortitude’ ….. X
Love and blessings to you both. I wish I had more talents to offer but if there is anything I CAN do please let me know
